PLANETARY PLEDGE PYRAMID GAME
Requirements PPP Social Web Game
The following describes the basic elements of the online PPP-Game – including the ‘ideas game’.
Pyramid
- A scalable visualization of all groups, list of 6 Ideas, overall list of ideas
- Visible for people not participating in the game
Group
- Consists of an administrator and 5 users
- Inherits a List of 6 ideas
- A group is part of the pyramid
User
- A user is recruited into a group
- A user can only be a user in 1 group.
- A user may form new groups where he/she is an administrator.
- A user pledges for the PPP-Game in the Pledge Bank
- A user votes for ideas in the list of 6 ideas or replaces ideas in the list of 6 ideas by ideas from the overall list of ideas.
- Can receive messages from the application managers.
Administrator
- Is a user who recruits 5 users to form a group
- An administrator may form more than one group.
- This means that an administrator will always belong to at least 2 groups – the one where he/she is a user and the one he/she forms herself.
- Cannot be recruited as a user by other administrators.
List of 6 Ideas
- Always consists of 6 ideas.
- All ideas that are currently voted for in the administrator’s group will be inherited to the initial list.
- The remaining ideas in the initial list formed by the top hits from the Overall Ideas List
- Users in the group may vote for an idea on the list.
- Users in the group may replace an idea on the list by voting on another idea from the Overall Ideas List.
- A vote can at any time be moved/changed
- An idea that has been voted for by one or more users in the group cannot be replaced.
- Nice to have: The list of 6 ideas consists of the ideas voted for + ideas the individual user chooses to see. A button will randomly replace the ideas that are not voted for on the user’s list
Overall Ideas List
- A list of all ideas in the game
- Ideas with the most votes in the pyramid are listed first
- Ideas are listed with tags
- Users may suggest new ideas from a Suggest New Idea Window
- Top ideas from the list will enter the ‘Decision Making Game Show’
- Nice to have: browse by tags
Suggesting New Idea Window
- Contains a text field for entering the new idea (with a limited number of characters e.g. 100)
- At least 2 tags must be added to the new idea
- Tags are chosen from a list with the option of creating new tags.
Planetary Pledge Bank
- A user must pledge 5 € for the planet to participate in a group.
- A ‘Planetary Pledge’ will be created at: http://www.pledgebank.com/
- The pledge is not to a fixed idea but to the final decision of the ‘Decision Making Game Show’
- Users only pay if they likes the idea.
Solution: PPP Social Web Game
- Facebook application
- Pro: Easy distribution channel, reaches many people, ‘hype’ (for the press), external hosting, scalable for many users.
- Contra: Restrictions in API
- Open source social web service
- Pro: easier to build/handle – no restrictions
- Contra: e-mail distribution considered spam, possibly excludes a broad audience (who wants yet another social web service?)
Live Game Elements
Decision Making Game Show
- A live game show in Copenhagen
- 200 participants – tickets cost 10 €
- Participants will discuss & decide on an idea for the planet in the show
- Ideas form the ‘Planetary Pledge Pyramid’ will work as input in the game and visualized to the participants
